As part of the government’s strategy to improve progress in schools during Key Stage 2 and 3, they are set to roll out a one-to-one tuition plan during the spring and summer terms of 2009. Pupils will be selected for one-to-one tuition if they enter the key stage behind the national expected level, or if their teacher assessment shows their progress in English or Maths has stalled and they are therefore at risk of not adding two levels of progress in one or the other subject.
